David Johnson and the Houston Texans started off the 2020 NFL season this evening against the Kansas City Chiefs. In his debut with his new team after being traded by the Arizona Cardinals in the DeAndre Hopkins blockbuster trade, Johnson made his impact felt immediately.
On the team’s second drive of the game, Johnson took a 19-yard run to the house to put the Texans up 7-0 on the Chiefs.
Take a look at the impressive run from Johnson for yourself:
Johnson may have been overlooked in the trade because of Hopkins also being included, but he could be a huge pickup for the Texans. Houston has been looking to add a legitimate ground game for quite some time. They may very well have it now.
Up to this point in the game, Johnson had carried the football three times for 33 yards and a score. He also had a catch for five yards.
The Texans may be a team to keep an eye on if Johnson continues the pace he has started this game with. It’s good to see him back on his game after injuries derailed his career. Johnson was considered one of the top running backs in the game just a few short years ago.
Expect to see the Texans continue utilizing David Johnson as a workhorse this season. They didn’t acquire him to use him in a two-back system. Johnson is going to get a lot of touches and hopefully he can continue making the most of them.
