The Las Vegas Raiders made a massive change at the quarterback position this offseason. After releasing Derek Carr, the team opted to sign former San Francisco 49ers’ signal caller Jimmy Garoppolo. Many fans weren’t ecstatic about the move, but the team has hope that Garoppolo will take their offense to the next level.
At the very least, change can be very healthy for a franchise. While there isn’t a huge skill gap between Carr and Garoppolo, the new face could be enough change to help the Raiders.
On Thursday, a video surfaced that showed Garoppolo in the Raiders’ facility for the first time. To say that he was impressed would be a major understatement.
There is no denying how nice the new stadium and facilities in Vegas are. The Raiders are definitely one of the teams with the most modern setup. Garoppolo clearly approves of the space.

During the 2022 season with the 49ers, Garoppolo ended up playing in 11 games before going down with an injury. He completed 67.2 percent of his pass attempts for 2,437 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Those numbers certainly aren’t bad and they showed the Raiders enough to have faith in him as their new starter.
Granted, there is still a chance that the Raiders could pursue a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. There are quite a few good ones in the draft class. However, the top echelon of quarterback prospects will be gone when they get on the clock barring a trade up.
Expect to see Jimmy Garoppolo head into the season as the starter. The Raiders have high hopes that he can help them get back into playoff contention and his track record in San Francisco gives them reason to have that hope.
