Throughout the entire offseason, the Packers had plenty of opportunities to strengthen their wide receiver corps. In free agency, there were guys like Emmanuel Sanders, Robby Anderson, and Breshad Perriman available. While Green Bay was rumored to be pursuing Sanders — who elected to sign with the New Orleans Saints — they ended up inking a deal with Funchess.

Last offseason, Funchess signed a one-year, $13 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts after spending four seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Sadly, he would suffer a season-ending shoulder injury in his debut with the Colts in Week 1.

Funchess’s best season came in 2017 with the Panthers when he notched a career-best 63 receptions for 840 yards and eight touchdowns. While he provides the Packers with a viable red-zone option, it remains to be seen what Funchess looks like after recovering from his shoulder surgery. In all likeliness, Funchess will be battling Valdes-Scantling for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart this offseason.
