Why the Buccaneers are making a mistake not wanting Antonio Brown

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The risk is worth the reward

If there is a player that is worth putting up with antics, it’s Antonio Brown. He was the top receiver in the NFL at the end of his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and could still probably be an elite receiver if given the opportunity.

It’s not every day that a team can have the opportunity to acquire a talent like Brown. That’s especially the case for an organization like the Buccaneers. Taking advantage of every chance to add high-impact players as they possibly can is crucial.

The best case scenario is that Brown truly is hungry for another chance and stays disciplined enough to be a net positive. Being paired with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, the Buccaneers’ passing attack would be truly tough to stop giving Tom Brady more than enough help.

The Buccaneers could even sign Brown to a very short-term contract and part ways with him if it’s not working out. There isn’t a need to just push this possibility aside when there are ways to get creative with it.
