Why fans should be excited about Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery in 2020

Alshon Jeffery has another year on his current deal that should keep him with the Philadelphia Eagles until the end of the 2021 season. What the Eagles are looking for is No. 1 receiver production. It’s no secret that when healthy, Jeffery can get the job done but his numbers do not scream top-tier production. But here is the flipside of it all.

If Jeffery continues to either miss time or fail to produce as a No. 1 receiver, the Eagles can dangle him as trade bait to a contending team in search of his services. But a lot of that also hinges on the success of the young guys such as JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Greg Ward, and Jalen Reagor. If either of these players can step up in 2020, Roseman would not think twice about pulling the trigger on a trade.

But most of all, Jeffery’s career is riding on this season. Another down year and he may miss an opportunity to cash out on a big contract. In 2020, Jeffery will earn close to $12M (with incentives). But in 2020, the Eagles will have to shell out close to $15M (with incentives).

Jeffery must shine and for a player to not have gone over 1,000 yards since joining 2014, this will be a tall task.
