New offensive pieces should help Bell’s production
Aside from the complete makeover the Jets front office put into their offensive line, signing Connor McGovern, George Fant and Greg Van Roten, along with drafting Mekhi Becton and Cameron Clark, the Jets also added some skill players to take some of the focus away from Bell.
The team signed wideout Breshad Perriman, who’s coming off a career year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They also drafted highly touted Baylor receiver Denzel Mims in the second round of this year’s draft. Both should have instant impacts on New York’s offense.
Gase has never used his backs as bell cows for his offense, but he’s also never had a back like Le’Veon Bell.
These new additions should take some of the heat off Bell, with defenses not being able to solely key on him every play. Bell is still the best skill player on the Jets offense, and fans should expect their head coach to start using Bell in that fashion moving forward.
