Why Mohamed Sanu is exactly what the Packers need

Why Mohamed Sanu And The Packers Are A Perfect Match

Let’s be honest, the Packers cannot be comfortable with their current situation at the wide receiver position.

Davante Adams is a legitimate superstar, but behind him they have a ton of unproven talent. Allen Lazard stepped up into the No. 2 role last season, but he left a bit to be desired. Neither Marquez Valdes-Scantling or Equanimeous St. Brown can truly be relied upon for big years.

Sanu would immediately come in and provide a proven veteran role player. He would be a good bet to take over the No. 2 receiver role immediately.

Aaron Rodgers isn’t getting any younger and the Packers went 13-3 last season. They also made a run to the NFC Championship Game. Why would the Packers not go all-in to bring Rodgers more talent to work with?

Matt LaFleur’s offense was also missing a solid slot possession wide receiver. Sanu is capable of playing that role. He can make the tough catches across the middle and does so consistently.

While the Packers and general manager Brian Gutekunst have remained consistent with their confidence in their young wide receivers, Sanu makes too much sense. They won’t have to break the bank to sign him and it would be a one-year deal. Just like the Funchess deal, Sanu could earn a second contract.

After being released by the Patriots, Sanu will be out to prove himself. A big season playing alongside Rodgers could turn into a new deal with the Packers or another big deal elsewhere. This is a win-win scenario for both parties involved.

The Packers need to do everything they can to bring Sanu onboard. He comes without the risk that Dez Bryant or Antonio Brown would bring and he would be cheap.

Green Bay should be going all-in for a Super Bowl with Rodgers while they can and Mohamed Sanu could help them towards that goal. Get this deal done, Packers.
