Why Randall Cobb would be a perfect target for the New York Giants

Why Randall Cobb Is A Perfect Fit For The Giants

Quite simply, the Giants need a veteran slot wide receiver. Cobb fits that bill perfectly and would give Jones the kind of possession target he needs. In addition to his skills as a slot receiver, he has breakaway speed and the ability to make big-time plays in the open field.

New York does have some talent at receiver in Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard, and Russell Shepard. However, that isn’t enough.

Adding a talent like Cobb would round out the offense perfectly. Jones would still have his deep threats, but he would also have a reliable option in the slot. Plenty of teams will covet Cobb’s services this offseason.

More than likely, Cobb won’t cost the Giants an arm and a leg either. Spotrac.com currently has his market value listed at $7.1 million. That would be more than affordable for New York.

Granted, adding a veteran wide receiver may not be at the very top of their priority list. However, if they want to give Jones as much help as possible, that would be one way to do it. Cobb is certainly worth a short-term contract for two years preferably.

Expect to see the Giants look to make some moves on the offensive side of the football this offseason. They could opt to make a move at wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft, but if they choose free agency, Cobb would be the perfect option to pick.
