Why The Eagles Should Trade Alshon Jeffery This Offseason

2020 NFL Draft

The 2020 NFL Draft is loaded with capable receivers. If Howie Roseman strongly believes it’s time to move on from Jeffery, he could then use the Eagles 21st pick in the draft and either take Tee Higgins of Clemson, Justin Jefferson of LSU or Laviska Shenault Jr out of Colorado.

While losing a vet like Jeffery would be a huge blow, adding a young receiver on the cheap end of the salary cap could turn out to be wise. Jeffery is still on the books for two more years and shedding his salary is the move to make.

Either one of those college players mentioned above will provide instant production but this is where Roseman has to be smart. The Eagles have not drafted well when it comes to wide receivers. In 2019, they took JJ Argeca-Whiteside in the second round and he has not produced anything. But if they do move on from Alshon, the Eagles may walk away with another receiver or a draft pick they can use later down the line to get a steal of the draft.
