Why The Eagles Should Trade Alshon Jeffery This Offseason

Greg Ward

Here is what has Eagles fans believing they can trade Alshon Jeffery and still have a high-scoring offense. With Jeffery and DeSean Jackson out much of last season, the Eagles had to rely on rookies and unknown receivers for much of the year. One player, in particular, was Greg Ward.

In his first year with the Eagles, Ward played in only seven games and registered 28 receptions for 254 yards and one touchdown. What has Eagles fans excited is what happened towards the end of the season. It was Ward who became to go-to-guy for Carson Wentz down the stretch.

But there is still one issue that goes unnoticed. Ward is a small guy in stature. He’s listed at 5-11 and the Eagles need size. Having a duo of Ward and Jackson (5-10) is not going to cut it. There will need to get a bigger receiver and this is where either the draft will come into play or a trade involving Alshon Jeffery will come in handy.
