The Seattle Seahawks are flying high so far in September 2024. The team is feeling good after defeating the Miami Dolphins in a 24-3 blowout win. However, with so many games left this season, some believe that the team might be peaking. Put simply, they’re not.
The Seahawks have much greater things in store this season, including being one of a few alive in January.
Here’s why.
Look at the Seattle Seahawks’ record
There are only four 3-0 teams in the NFL at the time of writing. The Seattle Seahawks are one of those teams. As such, by default, they are NFC contenders today. However, they also are on pace to be one of the top teams in the NFL in terms of record. In a Week 3 that saw the Saints and Buccaneers take a big step back, the Seahawks only got stronger.
Defensive powerhouse
The Seahawks currently have the second-best defense in the NFL in terms of yards allowed, per ESPN. They also are fourth in terms of points allowed per game. They’re second in passing defense as well. If Geno Smith stumbles, the defense will be there to give him plenty of margin.
Put simply, the bar for the offense is quite low as the defense has been able to keep opponents under 21 points per game this season. If Geno can continue scoring at least three touchdowns per game, his team will be just fine.
DK Metcalf
DK Metcalf might be in for his best season ever. Seemingly every week, he has been able to burn a defense for a deep scoring touchdown.
After a slow start of less than 30 yards against the Denver Broncos, Metcalf has ripped off 129 yards and 104 yards in Weeks 2 and 3. If he keeps this pace, Smith won’t even be in danger of putting the Seattle Seahawks’ defense in a difficult spot.
