Will Tyreek Hill or Michael Thomas have the better 2020 season?

The Verdict: Michael Thomas

Regardless of outside circumstances, it’s difficult to ever truly go against what we’ve seen from Michael Thomas since he’s entered the NFL. New targets could make it more difficult for him to flirt with the near 200 targets he saw in 2019-20, but he’s been dominant nonetheless.

As long as Drew Brees continues to feel the need to get the ball out quickly and avoid unnecessary hits to his 41-year-old body, his go-to throw will always be there. Thomas’ competitiveness and Jordan-like mental psyche render that a safe bet.

Both Hill’s 2018 season and his standing as arguably the greatest deep threat receiver of his generation (PFF rates him a perfect 99.9) gives him a fighter’s chance. And the rest of the NFL should have some level of trepidation. Patrick Mahomes is merely scratching the surface of how special he can be.

But, Thomas has two seasons that rival Hill’s best, and for the time being, taking the sure thing ahead of potential feels like the safest bet. Michael Thomas has provided us with little reason why he wouldn’t return to the throne as the NFL’s best wide receiver, and so in this fan’s eyes, there’s no doubting that just yet.
