Packers safety Darnell Savage opens up on huge goals for his future

Darnell Savage has become a huge piece of the Green Bay Packers’ defense. Even though he is heading into just his second NFL season in 2020, he will be such a massive piece for the Packers’ goals of making a Super Bowl push.

After being drafted with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Savage was immediately penciled in as a starter. He ended up earning that role alongside fellow safety Adrian Amos. Both players performed admirably last season.

In his rookie year, Savage ended up recording 55 total tackles to go along with two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and five defended passes. Those numbers show the playmaking potential that Savage possesses.

During a recent interview, Savage opened up on a huge goal for his future. Rob Demovsky of ESPN shared the quote and it should excite Packers fans to see what he has in store for the upcoming season.

“I’m not gonna stop until I’m on top of the world.”

He also opened up a bit about the injury that slowed him down during his rookie year.

“You try not use it as an excuse, but obviously it’s something that’s there, something you’ve got to deal with.”

Heading into the 2020 season, the Packers are a relatively unknown team. Some believe they will compete in the NFC once again, while others think they are poised to take a big step back. Only time will tell, but Savage will play a critical role in deciding where they end up.

With all of that being said, expect to see Darnell Savage come out looking much better this season. He has been working hard all offseason long and has big goals set for himself.

Green Bay should be very excited to see what Savage produces in 2020 and the fans should be happy and comfortable hearing what Savage wants to create in his future.
