1 Brutal Stat Shows Struggles For Packers’ Christian Watson

The 2023 campaign has not been kind to Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson.

Watson missed the first three games of the season due to a hamstring injury, and upon returning, his effectiveness has been limited.

Zach Cruse of The Packers Wire posted a rather brutal stat showing just how much Watson has struggled this season.

In four games this year, Watson has logged just 11 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown. His best effort came in Week 5, when he finished with three grabs for 91 yards.

Watson, who played his collegiate football at North Dakota State, was selected by the Packers in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 14 contests during his rookie season, catching 41 passes for 611 yards and seven scores. It was certainly solid production, and given his 6-foot-4 frame and remarkable speed, Green Bay expected big things from in in his sophomore campaign.

Obviously, things have not turned out that way thus far.

Now, in Watson’s defense, he was catching passes from Aaron Rodgers last season. This time around, he is fielding targets from Jordan Love, who has struggled quite a bit in his first year as the Packers’ full-time starter under center. So, the numbers Kruse posted are skewed in that sense.

Still, there is no doubt that Christian Watson has been a disappointment for Green Bay thus far, as he has failed to log any more than three catches in any single game this season.

Of course, the Packers have labored as a whole in 2023. They got off to a 2-1 start, but since then, they have lost four straight games as they have watched their playoff hopes fade.

Green Bay will look to snap its losing skid when it takes on the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday.
