1 Insane Stat Shows How Dominant Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Was In 2022

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has taken the league by storm in his first three seasons as a professional. The team could not have asked for much more out of the LSU star, who they selected with the first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft received from the Buffalo Bills in a trade for Stefon Diggs.

There may not be a trade in the history of the NFL in which both teams came away that pleased. Diggs has continued ascending into a star in Buffalo, while Justin Jefferson is already laying claim to being the best wide receiver in the league.

The scariest part about Justin Jefferson is that he isn’t even near his prime. He just turned 24 in June, so the best could yet to come. If there is another level for him to reach, there are going to be a lot of records broken in the coming years.

He already owns multiple records for pass catchers in their first three seasons in the NFL and he will continue toppling records as Kirk Cousins’ go-to target. 2022 was his best season to date, as Justin Jefferson set multiple career highs.

He caught 128 passes for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns. The receptions and yardage were not only the best of his career but also led the NFL. That production is impressive itself, but one comparison shows just how truly dominant it was.

Justin Jefferson was essentially performing at the same rate entire groups of pass catchers were. The New England Patriotstop three receivers in 2022, Jakobi Meyers, DeVante Parker and Hunter Henry, combined for 133 receptions, 1,777 yards and 10 touchdowns.

New England didn’t have a quarterback as prolific as Cousins under center, but that is still a mind-blowing comparison. Outperforming an entire group of pass catchers is just the latest impressive feat that Justin Jefferson has accomplished. It will be fun to see what he has up his sleeve next.
