The Philadelphia Eagles know what it feels like to get close to the Lombardi Trophy but ultimately fall short. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last season and it is a feeling they do not want to ever feel again.

They are using that as motivation heading into the 2023 season. The Eagles should once again be among the best teams in the NFL despite some major changes occurring on the field. Philadelphia was poached on both the coaching staff and roster this offseason as other franchises around the league attempt to replicate their success.

One player who will be back with the Eagles in 2023 and beyond is quarterback Jalen Hurts. Hurts signed what was the largest contract in NFL history earlier this offseason, locking him into a long-term deal to stay in the City of Brotherly Love. His contract has since been surpassed by Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow is projected to surpass all three of them.

Hurts has quieted any doubters who didn’t believe he could succeed at this level. The Eagles put the pieces around him to succeed and he took full advantage, blossoming during the 2022 season and finishing second in the MVP voting.

Heading into his fourth season in the NFL and third as the starter, Hurts knows he and the team have unfinished business. Looking to not lose sight of the prize at the end of the tunnel, he has found some intriguing motivation for himself.

The lock screen on his phone is currently himself walking off the field after the Eagles lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. He doesn’t want to forget and move on, instead using that as fuel to ensure that he and his team can go all the way next time around.

We have seen similar scenes from other players during big losses. Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills has watched his opponents celebrate postseason victories over his team as well. They won’t be the last as people draw motivation and inspiration from different vehicles. For Hurts, it will be seeing that photo and not wanting to re-live it again.
