1 Sleeper The Broncos Must Target In Third Round Of NFL Draft

The Denver Broncos hit a home run this offseason when they acquired quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks for a package that included three players and multiple draft picks. Anything else they do this offseason is just a cherry on top as they landed the quarterback that will enable them to compete with the teams in the upper echelon of the AFC.

This is an offense that should be among the best in the NFL with Wilson running the show. He is a sizable upgrade on Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock, the starters from 2021. An intriguing, young group of skill position players will all benefit from having Wilson under center.

On defense, the Broncos look solid as well. They added a much-needed pass rusher in former Dallas Cowboy, Randy Gregory. They also signed D.J. Jones and K’Waun Williams away from the San Francisco 49ers to bolster their defense.

Denver filled all of its major holes and will be looking to add depth in the 2022 NFL Draft. While they do not have a first-round pick, as it was sent to the Seahawks, Denver still possesses three selections in top-100.

In the third round, the Broncos will be on the clock twice. One sleeper that they must target in that round is Alabama linebacker, Christian Harris. Harris played inside linebacker with the Crimson Tide, but the Broncos may want to experiment with having him play outside linebacker with them.

Putting Harris in a position to unleash his athleticism and play to his strengths could necessitate a move to the outside. He is not very strong in pass coverage, as he can be taken advantage of when targeted. But, he can handle some assignments, which lends him the opportunity to possibly be a three-down linebacker down the road.

For now, Harris can be used as a weapon against the run game. There is a chance he can provide more down the line as he possesses the physical characteristics and athleticism to be a starter but he will need to work on his pass coverage to become a true three-down player at the next level.
