Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has achieved things in his short NFL career that most other quarterbacks can only dream up. He just wrapped up his seventh season in the league, sixth as a starter, but winning his third Super Bowl ring and Super Bowl MVP award.
Some legendary players didn’t win a single ring in their storied careers, let alone three in five years. What Mahomes and the Chiefs have accomplished is special as they are the first franchise in 20 years, since the New England Patriots, to win back-to-back Super Bowls.
They will look to make history next year by becoming the first team in NFL history to win three straight championships. While the odds are certainly stacked against them, is anyone going to bet against Mahomes getting this team over the hump again?
NFL News & Rumors: Patrick Mahomes & Kansas City Chiefs Updates
This was as difficult of a season as any given some of the weaknesses the Chiefs had. As pointed out by Tommy Beer on X, this was far from the strongest supporting cast the team has had around their start quarterback, yet he still found a way to lead them to victory.
Those statistics that Beer listed aren’t normally part of the recipe for a championship team. But, the ingredients don’t have to be perfect when a player of Mahomes’ caliber is the main one, as he more than compensates for them.
This was a hard-earned title for the Chiefs, who had to head on the road for the first time during their quest through the AFC. They defeated the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens on the road before beating the San Francisco 49ers in overtime.
In Super Bowl 58, the Chiefs trailed by double-digits in the first half. For most teams, that would be too big of a hole to climb out of. For Mahomes, it was just another day at the office as nothing phases him.

Also shared by Beer, this was the 11th time in Mahomes’ career that the Chiefs have trailed by 7+ points in a playoff game. His record in those games is a mind-blowing 9-2. There isn’t another quarterback in the history of the NFL with a record above .500 in such scenarios.
To defeat the Chiefs in the postseason, you really have to earn it. They are not out of a game until the final whistle as the heroics of Mahomes cannot be understated. As long as there is time on the lock, he is going to do everything in his power to put his team in a position to win.
Despite some obstacles on Sunday against the 49ers, such as turnovers and some ineffective play, Mahomes stepped up when the team needed him most. He bounced back from an ugly interception earlier in the game to finish with 333 passing yards and two touchdowns, taking home the MVP award again.
