In the entire history of the franchise, the Chicago Bears have yet to field a modern offense, standing as the sole NFL team without a quarterback who has thrown for 4,000 yards or 30 touchdowns in a single season.

However, the winds of change may be blowing, with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron expressing his vision for the team’s offensive strategy. Waldron emphasized the array of offensive weapons now at their disposal.

General manager Ryan Poles echoed this sentiment during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” affirming Waldron’s ability to position Caleb Williams for success. Poles expressed excitement about the talent pool the Bears have assembled.

Williams will find himself surrounded by top-tier talent, including wide receivers Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, and Rome Odunze, alongside new running back D’Andre Swift, and the formidable tight end Cole Kmet.

For years, fans have clamored for an offensive overhaul. The Bears, often seen as an emblem of old-school football, have maintained a conservative, run-first approach to the game.

The frustration is palpable, exacerbated by the team’s failure to produce a quarterback with over 3,500 passing yards since Jay Cutler in 2015. Mitchell Trubisky and Justin Fields, once hailed as saviors, faltered, unable to reverse the franchise’s fortunes.

In this new era, Williams stands poised for success, benefiting from a revamped offense and a more favorable environment compared to his predecessors.

It has been a long time since the Chicago Bears were a relevant contender, but the time may be near that they be viewed as such.
