With the start of the 2023 NFL regular season getting closer and closer, teams are making their last-ditch efforts to improve their rosters. One team to keep a close eye on will be the Green Bay Packers. Brian Gutekunst and company have no interest in falling out of contrition and could look to make a few deals if the right ones come along.

Jordan Love is set to start a new era of football for the Packers. Aaron Rogers is gone and a breath of fresh air and nervousness has washed over Green Bay.

While the Packers are very comfortable with the team they have put together, there are still some pieces they could look to add. Bleacher Report recently took a look at two free agents the Packers should target.

First and foremost, they suggested that Green Bay should try to sign quarterback Carson Wentz. With Love the new starter, the Packers currently have rookie Sean Clifford as his primary backup. Adding a veteran signal-caller like Wentz could help with Love’s development and give Green Bay a proven backup who could play if needed at any moment.

Secondly, Melvin Ingram could be an intriguing target to beef up the pass-rush. No one knows how Rashan Gary will return from his torn ACL. He looks great thus far, but Ingram could be a top-notch veteran addition to add safety to the position.

Both players would make sense and fill areas of need for the Packers. Neither would be asked to come in and be a huge piece of the game-plan from week to week, but they could both play valuable roles.

Matt LaFleur has his work cut out for him to keep his team in playoff contention. The NFC North has improved dramatically around the Packers and losing Rodgers is no small blow. Hopefully, Love will be able to come in and play strong right off the bat, but that is far from a guarantee.

Expect to see the Packers keep their options open. If the right move to upgrade the roster presents itself, Gutekunst and the front office won’t hesitate to make a move.
