Heath Miller, the former star tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is embarking on a new journey in coaching.

St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia, announced on Monday that Miller will serve as the acting head football coach for the 2024-25 school year.

“This is an invaluable experience for our football players to be coached by someone who has played the sport at the highest level. And while many will focus on his impressive stats as one of the Steelers’ most renowned players, I know what is most meaningful to Heath as a parent at our School is that he will have the opportunity to model excellent leadership, teamwork, and character development for the future generation.”

Taking over from Joe Sandoe, who led the team to a 6-3 season in 2023, Miller brings with him a wealth of experience from his illustrious career in the NFL. After retiring in 2016 following an impressive 11-year tenure with the Steelers, Miller cemented his legacy as the greatest tight end in the team’s history.

His accomplishments speak volumes, leading all Steelers tight ends in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Throughout his career, Miller clinched two Super Bowl championships and earned two Pro Bowl selections.

Following his retirement, Miller and his family settled in Virginia, where he will now kickstart his coaching career. Notably, his four children attend St. Anne’s-Belfield, underscoring his deep connection to the school and community. Both Miller and his wife are University of Virginia graduates, further solidifying their ties to the area.

Despite stepping away from professional football, Miller has maintained close ties with the Steelers organization. His continued involvement was evident when he warmly welcomed tight end Pat Freiermuth to the team in 2021 through a heartfelt video message shared on the team’s social media platforms.

Furthermore, Miller’s contributions to the Pittsburgh Steelers were honored with his induction into the Steelers Hall of Honor in November 2022, highlighting the lasting impact he made on the franchise.

Now, as he transitions into coaching, Miller’s expertise and dedication are poised to shape the next generation of football players at St. Anne’s-Belfield School.
