2. Olsen would easily be the best tight end on the roster
Prior to the 2018 season, the Bears signed Trey Burton to a four-year, $32 million deal in free agency. Burton was just coming off of a Super Bowl victory with the Eagles where he actually threw a touchdown to Nick Foles.
In his first season with the team, Burton corraled 54 receptions for 569 yards and six touchdowns. Then, in his second season, injuries caused him to miss eight games and he was unproductive when he did play.
The Florida product ended the 2019 season with just 14 receptions for 84 yards in eight games. Due to Burton’s dismal year, Chicago should consider adding a tight end to the roster.
Even at 34-years-old, Olsen was able to produce numbers with a team that started three quarterbacks in 2019. The veteran tight end hauled in 52 receptions for 597 yards and two touchdowns.
If the Bears signed Olsen, he’d immediately become the best tight end on the roster. At the same time, it would give Nagy a chance to run more two tight-end sets on offense.
