Two franchises are reportedly eyeing the New England Patriots’ coveted No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft, as per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

The buzz circulating within the league suggests that both the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings are contemplating a move to secure this valuable selection.

“I’m hearing a bit of buzz about the third pick, which belongs to the New England Patriots. … There are people around the league who believe they are open to trading the No. 3 selection, moving back in the draft and addressing the quarterback position in free agency. If the Pats do trade that pick … the two teams I’d keep an eye on are the Falcons (moving from the No. 8 spot) and the Vikings (moving from the No. 11 spot, assuming they don’t bring back Cousins). Minnesota knows it eventually has to address the quarterback position long term, and the notion of bringing in Daniels to pair with their star LSU alum wideout Justin Jefferson has appeal to some in the organization.”

Traditionally, the Patriots, under the leadership of Bill Belichick, have demonstrated a propensity for trading back in the draft. However, with first-year coach Jerod Mayo at the helm, the team’s draft strategy remains uncertain.

Whether Mayo will adhere to the established blueprint of trading down or opt for a different approach will unfold in the ensuing months.

It seems like the upcoming NFL offseason could be full of trades and player movement. As the 2024 NFL Draft continues to draw closer, it will be interesting to see which teams decide to make major moves.

Clearly, the New England Patriots are going to be a team to monitor very closely.
