New York Giants’ Dream Draft Scenario, Revealed

The New York Giants own the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft later this month, and there is plenty of debate on what they should do with it.

Should they take a quarterback? Should they select a wide receiver? Should they trade down?

Well, former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III came up with this dream scenario for the Giants, and it involved choosing LSU wide out Malik Nabers at No. 6 and then taking Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in the second round if he is still on the board.

This would definitely be a great coup for New York.

While the Giants definitely need a quarterback, as Daniel Jones doesn’t seem to be the answer, they are also in desperate need of some weapons.

Big Blue has not had a legitimate No. 1 receiver since Odell Beckham Jr., and his last year with the club was all the way back in 2018.

The Giants have a couple of talented young pass-catchers in Wan’Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt, but both are unproven, and neither have shown they have No. 1 ability thus far.

If New York can snag Nabers with the sixth pick and then grab Penix at No. 47, it would probably represent one of the best-case scenarios for the Giants.

The question is, will Penix still be available when New York’s second-round selection comes up?

There is some buzz that Penix could end up going at the end of the first round, and if not then, then possibly early in the second. That means the Giants may have to trade up in order to have a chance at Penix, who is the sixth-ranked quarterback on most draft boards.

Penix is coming off of a fantastic 2023 campaign in which he threw for 4,903 yards, 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 65.4 percent of his passes.

Meanwhile, Nabers hauled in 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 scores during his final season at LSU. He is widely viewed as the second-best receiver in the draft behind Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr.

We’ll see if the Giants are able to make this happen in less than two weeks.
