2 Trades That Would Send Derrick Henry To Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are 5-2 and appear to be one of the best teams in the NFL, but they could always stand to make some improvements. One area in which the Ravens could make an addition is their backfield, which is why Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry could be a target.

Baltimore lost No. 1 halfback J.K. Dobbins to a torn Achilles earlier this season, leaving Gus Edwards and Justice Hill to man the position.

While Edwards and Hill have done an admirable job as a tandem, it’s clear that the Ravens could use an upgrade there.

The Titans could ultimately trade Henry before the Oct. 31 NFL deadline, and Baltimore represents a potential destination.

Here are two trades that could send Henry to the Ravens.

Trade 1: Ravens Trade WR Rashod Bateman and a 2024 Third-Round Draft pick to the Titans for Derrick Henry

With Tennessee being just 2-4 and not even resembling a contender this year, a rebuild in the offseason seems inevitable.

Henry’s contract expires after this season, and he will be 30 years old by the time free agency kicks off in the spring. He doesn’t really fit the Titans’ timeline, so Tennessee may just be better served trading him now to recoup some value for him.

In this package, the Ravens would be sending disappointing (but young) wide receiver Rashod Bateman and a 2024 third-round draft pick to the Titans in exchange for Henry.

Bateman is a former first-round pick of Baltimore’s, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations with the club. Now, to be fair, wide out is a tough position for the Ravens, as Lamar Jackson tends to favor his tight ends in the passing game. Perhaps Bateman could flourish somewhere else?

Here, Tennessee lands a receiver with potential as well as a Day 2 pick to help facilitate its rebuild.

Trade 2: Ravens Trade a 2024 First-Round Draft Pick and a Sixth-Rounder to the Titans for Derrick Henry

This deal would probably interest the Titans a bit more than the first package, because Tennessee would actually be receiving a first-round pick in this trade rather than a player who was a first-round pick.

Honestly, given Henry’s decrease in production this season, if the Titans can snare a first-rounder for him, they should take it and run.

Not that Henry has been bad this year; he hasn’t. He is still on pace for about 1,200 rushing yards, and he is averaging a solid 4.3 yards per carry. But that isn’t quite as good as Henry was in his prime, and again, he is only getting older.

It would be a painful trade for Tennessee, as Henry has been a member of the Titans ever since he entered the league in 2016. But, unfortunately, it’s something that probably has to be done in order for the franchise to truly move forward.

As for the Ravens, giving up a first-rounder would obviously hurt, but this team is trying to win now. Adding Derrick Henry into the fold would give Baltimore the most dynamic rushing attack in football and would make the Ravens more than a handful to deal with in the playoffs.
