3 Bold Predictions For Indianapolis Colts In Week 5 vs. Titans

The Indianapolis Colts were not expected to be contenders going into this season, but through the first four weeks, the Colts have gone 2-2 and are very much alive in the winnable AFC South.

There is currently a four-way tie between the four teams within the division going into Week 5, but something has to give when Indianapolis battles the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

The Colts may be getting Jonathan Taylor back on the field for the matchup, as the running back was activated from the PUP list earlier this week. He is currently listed as questionable, but if he does play, it would obviously provide Indianapolis with quite a lift, even if he isn’t 100 percent just yet.

Here are three bold predictions for the Colts against the Titans.

Anthony Richardson Will Have to Air It Out

Anthony Richardson is one of the most exciting young stars in the NFL right now.

The rookie quarterback flashed his tantalizing potential during the second half of the Colts’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams last weekend, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for another.

While Richardson is unquestionably a dual threat, he may have a tough time getting anything going on the ground this Sunday.

The Titans are allowing just 70 rushing yards per game thus far, good for fourth in the NFL. They ranked No. 1 in that category last season, so this is no fluke.

As a result, Richardson will probably have to utilize his arm more than his legs in Week 5, and while he has certainly displayed considerable arm talent, he is completing just 56.9 percent of his throws.

Expect head coach Shane Steichen to put some trust in Richardson to deliver the goods by having him air it out to Michael Pittman Jr. and his stable of pass-catchers.

If Jonathan Taylor Plays, He Will Be Limited

Taylor has not seen live game action since last December, so even if he does take the field on Sunday, you have to imagine that he will not be his Pro Bowl self.

Of course, Taylor was previously at odds with Indy’s front office, as the Colts refused to give him a contract extension going into the season. That resulted in Taylor asking for a trade, but Indianapolis was unable to strike a deal because of its high asking price.

But it had a happy ending, as the Colts reached a three-year agreement with Taylor on Saturday.

If Taylor is available, he will definitely get some touches, but don’t expect it to be anything extravagant. Maybe he’ll get something like 10 carries and be used as a decoy to make things easier for Richardson.

Still, just his presence alone will positively affect the Colts’ offense.

The Colts Will Pull Out the Home Win

The thing about the four AFC South clubs is that no one team is significantly better than another. Sure, the Jacksonville Jaguars look like the best squad on paper, but I’m not ready to anoint them as division champions. After all, they haven’t looked too great early on.

In this matchup between the Colts and Titans, I think homefield advantage will end up making the difference. Tennessee is absolutely the more experienced club with Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry, but the Titans aren’t exactly loaded with talent.

This will probably merely come down to who takes better care of the football.

It will be a close game, and if it were in Tennessee, I would probably lean toward the Titans. However, I am taking the Colts to pull out a close win at home.
