Houston Texans Receive Critical Analysis From NFL Analyst

The Houston Texans are now the darlings of the NFL after an incredible offseason in which they have significantly bolstered their roster on both sides of the ball.

The Texans signed top edge rusher Danielle Hunter and 1,000-yard rusher Joe Mixon in free agency, and they then swung a deal to acquire star wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills.

On paper, Houston looks fantastic and appears to represent a legitimate challenger to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC, but Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright thinks we need to pump the brakes.

Wright has a point.

Yes, the Texans look terrific. They are incredibly talented. C.J. Stroud is coming off of one of the best rookie years ever, and Diggs is joining a loaded receiving corps that also includes Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

Plus, the combination of Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. could give Houston one of the NFL’s most dynamic pass rushes in 2024.

However, we have no idea of the Texans are going to gel.

We know that Diggs has had problems with his quarterbacks in the past, so you have to wonder how he will handle the inevitable dip in targets in Houston’s stacked offense. Will he end up taking it out on Stroud? Will he make more cryptic social media posts and become a distraction?

Not only that, but the AFC also includes the Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals, all of whom have more experience than the Texans. Houston may even run into competition in its own division.

There is no question that the Texans have been one of the offseason’s biggest winners, and they are clearly trying to win a Super Bowl now. Kudos to them.

But, we should probably wait and see how Houston comes out of the gates in September before we start anointing the club as the second coming in the AFC.

Right now, the Chiefs are still the clear favorites.
