3 NFL Teams Linked To Possible Trade For Raiders’ Chandler Jones

The Las Vegas Raiders have found their way to headlines but for all of the wrong reasons once again. This time it was because their veteran pass rusher, Chandler Jones, went on a bizarre social media rant, calling out general manager Dave Zeigler and head coach Josh McDaniels.

The gist of the messages was that Chandler Jones was unhappy with how the Raiders were treating him and handling certain situations. As long as Zeigler and McDaniels remain in their positions, he doesn’t want to be a part of the franchise.

Chandler Jones believes that the Raiders were trying to provoke him with some of their actions and was claiming that he was barred from the team’s facility. As a result, he has been working out at a local gym.

With the relationship between Chandler Jones and the Raiders seemingly on the rocks, could the veteran defensive end be on the move via trade? If that is the case, Justin Melo of The Draft Network named three teams that would be possible trade suitors for him.

The first team mentioned was the New York Giants. The Giants could certainly use another pass-rushing option and adding a veteran of Chandler Jones’ caliber to the mix would be smart. The team did add Boogie Basham from the Buffalo Bills in a trade after training camp, but you can never have too many pass rushers.

Chandler Jones also played on a team that current Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll was on the coaching staff of. The two were together for three seasons on the New England Patriots, who happen to be the second team on the list.

Reuniting with former players is something that occurred semi-regularly with the Patriots. He could form a dominant trio along with Matt Judon and Josh Uche getting after the quarterback for New England.

Last but not least, the Chicago Bears were named a potential suitor. Chicago had an anemic pass rush in 2022, as rookie safety Jaquan Brisker led the team with 4.0 sacks. They did add Yannick Ngakoue as a free agent this offseason, but it will take more than one player to get this pass rush on track.

Adding a veteran like Chander Jones would help round out the Bears’ defense and give the younger players on the team someone to lean on for leadership. Their entire outlook would change with the addition of an impactful veteran.
