3 potential landing spots for free agent DE Jabaal Sheard

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts made a major splash on the defensive line by acquiring DeFrest Buckner from the San Francisco 49ers. There is still a need for a defensive end since they haven’t replaced Jabaal Sheard and bringing him back makes sense.

Technically, the Colts do have the capabilities of making another big splash on the defensive line. However, it seems quite unlikely that the Jacksonville Jaguars would trade Yannick Ngaokue within the AFC South and Jadeveon Clowney remains an unpredictable and unlikely target.

With Justin Houston remaining at the left defensive end spot, the Colts will need to find a suitable contributor opposite of him. The remaining realistic options in free agency appear to be lateral moves at best, which is why bringing Sheard back for at least the 2020 season is a solid option.
