Week 13 was a good one in many respects for the San Francisco 49ers as they defeated the Miami Dolphins. That win was their fifth in a row, pushing their record to 8-4 on the season, but it didn’t come without its disappointments as injuries piled up again.

Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a foot injury that will more than likely keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant of the 2022 NFL Draft, stepped into the lineup in his place. He had a good game against the Dolphins, completing 25-of-37 passes for 210 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and will now be tasked with keeping the team afloat.

Unfortunately for the 49ers, Garoppolo was far from the only player to come out of the matchup with the Dolphins banged up. Star defensive end Nick Bosa also missed practice to start the week as he is sitting out with what head coach Kyle Shanahan called hamstring irritation.

This is the first time that Bosa has appeared on the injury report since Week 7. He ended up suiting up against the Kansas City Chiefs that week after sitting out the Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. October 13th was also the last time that Bosa missed a practice this season.

Irritation is what the 49ers used to describe the condition of Christian McCaffrey’s knee in the week of practice leading up to the Dolphins game. He was eventually removed from the injury report before handling a full allotment of touches, playing his highest percentage of snap shares in his tenure with the team.

That same knee ailment also caused McCaffrey to be a limited participant in practice to start the week. All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel joined him as a limited participant because of a quad injury.

Getting those two healthy is of the utmost importance as the 49ers have a short turnaround in Week 15 as they will travel to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football after hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.
