Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been turning some heads over the last several weeks, and New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers has taken notice.
When asked about Love during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Rodgers said he was thrilled for his former Packers teammate.
“Am I surprised by the way Jordan has played? No. Am I happy for him? Hell yeah,” said Rodgers, via Kyle Malzhan of WFRV Local 5. “Some people probably thought I was rooting against the Packers this year or rooting against Jordan. Couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Love has been brilliant over his last four games, throwing eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Green Bay has gone 3-1 over those contests and has won three straight overall to improve to 6-6 and work its way back into the NFC playoff picture.
The 2023 campaign has certainly been a roller-coaster ride for Love, who got off to a good start by going 2-1 over his first three starts and totaling seven touchdowns and one pick during that span. However, Love then hit a rough patch, recording seven touchdowns and nine interceptions over his next six games (the Packers went 1-5 over that period).
On the season overall, Love has thrown for 2,866 yards, 22 touchdowns and 10 picks while completing 61.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 90.2.
Most recently, the 24-year-old went 25-for-36 with 267 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-19 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Love, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was selected by the Packers with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He spent his first three seasons as Rodgers’ backup before Green Bay ultimately traded Rodgers to the Jets in a blockbuster deal this past offseason.
The Packers will take on the New York Giants next Monday.
