Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is one of the most exciting young players in football, even drawing comparisons to NFL legend Barry Sanders.

Well, Robinson has a lofty goal for his sophomore campaign, and it’s something that Sanders only did once throughout his illustrious NFL career.

“I want 2,000 yards rushing,” Robinson said, via Daniel Flick of Falcon Report. “I know those are big expectations, what we can do as an offense, with all the weapons, our O-line, with Zac being at the helm, it can be something special. I think it’s going to be one of those special seasons that Atlanta’s been waiting for us and all of us as players have been waiting for. So, let’s get it.”

Big expectations, indeed.

Robinson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Texas, was selected by the Falcons with the eighth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie campaign, rushing for 976 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 58 receptions for 487 yards and four scores.

However, Robinson only logged two 100-yard performances on the ground in 2023, and both of them came within the first four weeks of the season.

Of course, that is certainly not all Robinson’s fault, as Atlanta’s offense had plenty of issues this past year. But, if Robinson really wants to reach the 2,000-yard mark, he definitely needs to put together a string of 100-yard outings in order to sniff his goal.

Robinson’s best season at Texas came during his junior campaign, when he racked up 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns as a rusher in 12 games.

He will need to be even better than that in 2024 if he wants to follow through on his bold aspirations.

We’ll see what Bijan Robinson has in store for everyone next season.
