Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens suffered their first loss of the season this past Sunday, falling to the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 22-19 in overtime.

Afterward, Jackson was frustrated by his team’s inability to close the door throughout the game.

“We had plenty of opportunities in the game to finish strong, but it is what it is,” Jackson said in his press conference, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “[We] live to fight another day.”

Jackson added that he thought Baltimore “absolutely” should have won the game and tirelessly credited the club’s defense for its superb performance.

“Like I said, we had plenty of opportunities to put the game away, especially when our defense did a great job at stopping those guys,” Jackson said. “[We had] great field position [and] we didn’t move the ball at all. That ticked me off. It ticked all of us. We like to finish the job. The defense did great today. They always do great, but especially today giving us that opportunity to finish the game and we didn’t.”

Jackson went 22-for-31 with 202 yards while being sacked four times in the defeat. He made a major impact in the rushing attack, carrying the ball 14 times for 101 yards and his first two rushing touchdowns of the 2023 campaign.

On the season overall, the 26-year-old has thrown for 608 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while totaling 193 yards on the ground. He is averaging six yards per carry.

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker missed a 61-yard field-goal attempt that would have won the game at the end of regulation. Baltimore then ruined terrific field position on its first possession of overtime, starting at the Colts’ 48-yard line but gaining just four yards before punting.

Lamar Jackson and Co. will take on the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.
