The 2023 season is a big one for the Chicago Bears and their quarterback, Justin Fields. The first two seasons of his career have been rough when it comes to the team’s record. But, he showed signs of life and breaking out during the 2022 season.

Fields took the league by storm with his production as a runner. Despite a lackluster supporting cast, he was able to produce some impressive numbers. Alas, it didn’t result in victories, which is the most important stat.

Heading into 2023, the Bears have set Fields up for success. The supporting cast around him has been upgraded, as he now has a true No. 1 receiver in D.J. Moore. The offensive line looks great as well after guard Nate Davis was signed in free agency and Darnell Wright was selected in the first round of the draft.

In Week 1, Fields and the Bears will have a chance to set the tone for the 2023 season. They are going to be facing off against their NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have had the Bears’ number in recent seasons, as Fields is 0-4 in his career against them.

But, those losses all came against future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay will look different when they take the field with Jordan Love replacing Rodgers as the team’s starting quarterback.

That isn’t the only thing changing in this rivalry, as Fields made a bold proclamation about their Week 1 matchup. He has predicted that the goose egg in the win column for his career against the Packers will also be changing.

“It’s our everyday (approach) and the guys we have on our team. The mindset everybody has. The first game — playing Green Bay — that’s an opportunity to start this off on the right foot. That’s an opportunity to make a statement to where the season’s going to go. Of course, we haven’t beat them in a while. So it’ll be good to start the year off strong with them, getting that win and just continuing to get better from there. I’m excited for it,” Fields said.

The Bears are looking to make strides during the 2023 season and Fields will be in the middle of it. He has a lot to play for, as the front office will have to make a decision on his fifth-year option following the campaign.

Fields received a list of things to improve upon to ensure that he is the franchise quarterback of the Bears for years to come. Depending on how many he accomplishes will determine his fate with the franchise.
