The Minnesota Vikings find themselves in search of a new cornerstone quarterback for their franchise. The departure of Kirk Cousins in free agency dealt a significant blow to their offensive strategy.
However, the Vikings are not short on options to fill this crucial position, especially with the imminent NFL Draft on the horizon.
Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel recently disclosed on the Ross Tucker Podcast that the Vikings are enamored with Drake Maye and are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of him.
“The Minnesota Vikings are absolutely in love with him, don’t know if they have enough ammo.”
Despite their ardent interest, Daniel acknowledged that the Vikings may face challenges in securing Maye given their current resources.
Maye has long been touted as a top prospect, with predictions placing him as the likely pick for the New England Patriots at either No. 2 or No. 3.
Reports indicate that the Vikings are aggressively exploring trade opportunities to secure a higher draft position, with most insiders linking them to Michigan standout J.J. McCarthy.
To facilitate such a move, the Vikings possess two first-round picks, which they could leverage to entice teams like the Arizona Cardinals or Los Angeles Chargers into a trade. However, persuading the Patriots, who are also eyeing a quarterback, might prove more challenging.
Regardless, industry experts unanimously anticipate the Vikings to secure a top-five pick before the draft commences.
In the event their primary targets elude them, the Vikings have alternative options such as Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr., and they have also secured the services of veteran quarterback Sam Darnold on a one-year deal.
