The Denver Broncos are hoping for a bounce-back season in 2023, and recently Russell Wilson commented on one thing he’s looking to change.
Coming into the 2022 season, one of the teams that everyone was talking about was the Broncos. In the offseason, the Broncos made a blockbuster deal to acquire Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, and expectations were high for the Broncos.
Unfortunately for Denver, the team was never able to get going, and one of the reasons why was the shockingly poor play from Wilson. Before coming to Denver, Wilson was regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He had a lot of success with the Seahawks both individually, and overall as a team. However, the Wilson we saw with the Broncos last season looked like a completely different player.
Recently, Wilson commented about one of the things he is going to change in 2023.
Getting Wilson on the move in 2023 certainly makes a lot of sense for the Broncos’ offense. Wilson is certainly one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the game and can use his legs to not only gain yards on the ground but also to move the pocket and extend plays.
The offensive line for the Broncos was an issue for them last year and getting Wilson on the move should help alleviate some of the stress on that unit.
With Sean Payton as the head coach now for the Broncos, it will be interesting to see what type of offense he looks to implement with Wilson. While Payton had Drew Brees on the Saints for quite some time who was known as a great pocket passer, we also saw his ability to be a creative play caller with Taysom Hill in other situations.
Even though the 2022 season was a massive failure for Wilson and the Broncos, the addition of Payton as the new head coach should result in a much better season for Wilson and the Broncos in 2023.
