The Cleveland Browns suffered more than just their first loss of the season on Monday Night Football. Yes, the 26-22 defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers wasn’t ideal, but the primary news stemmed from the Nick Chubb injury.

Chubb, a superstar running back, suffered a knee injury during the game and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season as a result, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed the report, stating that Chubb is expected to miss the season, via ESPN.

The injury is devastating without question. Chubb is one of the best running backs in the NFL. Cleveland runs their offense through him. In fact, it is designed around Chubb and now Stefanski and the Browns will have to find a way to lean on their running back depth and the passing attack.

Monday night did not provide much good news for Cleveland. However, there is one bright spot. Running back Jerome Ford performed well after replacing Chubb in the backfield. He rushed for 106 yards on 16 carries against a respectable Steelers defense. The Browns will unquestionably benefit if Ford can step in and be reliable moving forward.

Nevertheless, overcoming Nick Chubb’s injury will be difficult. The 27-year-old is already a star, but some people around the league felt that he was in line for his best season yet. He excited Cleveland fans will a stellar performance in Week 1 as well. Now, all fans can do is hope for a speedy recovery.

The Browns will try to rebound without the superstar running back in Week 3. Cleveland is set to return home and battle a 1-1 Tennessee Titans team in what projects to be a competitive affair. The Browns will need Deshaun Watson and the passing game to perform especially well amid Chubb’s absence in order to defeat Tennessee.
