Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was livid following his team’s loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, and Josh Allen caught some of the brunt of Mahomes’ wrath in a postgame on-field handshake.

Mahomes was angry with an offensive offsides call that erased what would have been a go-ahead touchdown for the Chiefs with just over a minute to play in the fourth quarter. He had to be restrained by his teammates from going after the officials, and when he shook hands with Allen after the game, he complained about the call once again.

Mahomes apologized for his actions during a radio interview, saying that Allen did not deserve such treatment. Allen was asked about it this week, and he said he wasn’t bothered by Mahomes’ conduct.

“He reached out to me,” Allen said, via Thad Brown of WROC. “I’m just like, ‘It’s football; it’s a game of emotion.’ I know he didn’t mean anything by it. I know the cameras kind of caught the last few seconds of what we were talking about. He’s an ultimate competitor. He wants to win. That’s why he is who he is.”

The Bills defeated the Chiefs by a score of 20-17 in what could be described as a season-saving win for Buffalo, as it pushed its record to 7-6 to help maintain its standing in the AFC playoff picture.

Allen went 23-for-42 with 233 yards, a touchdown and an interception while carrying the ball 10 times for 32 yards and a score.

On the season overall, he has thrown for 3,447 yards, 25 touchdowns and a league-worst 14 picks while completing 66.9 percent and posting a passer rating of 93.4.

Meanwhile, Mahomes went 25-for-43 with 271 yards, a touchdown and an interception in what was his latest underwhelming performance this season.

The 28-year-old has totaled 3,398 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 picks while completing 66.9 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 93.3 on the year.
