The Buffalo Bills shocked the NFL world by trading wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans earlier this week, ending Diggs’ four-year tenure with the club.
Some feel that the Diggs trade was a long time coming, as Diggs had some conflict with the Bills and appeared to have a disconnect with quarterback Josh Allen.
But former NFL receiver DeSean Jackson things that there were deeper issues that resulted in Diggs wanting out of Buffalo.
During an appearance on the Up & Adams Show, Jackson said that Diggs may have felt that the Bills could not beat the Kansas City Chiefs, which was why he wanted to move on.
Buffalo has fallen to the Chiefs in the playoffs in three of the last four years, including this past January when Diggs and Co. fell to Kansas City in the Divisional Round.
The Bills have been labeled Super Bowl contenders for each of the last several seasons, but Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have consistently stood in the way.
It was looking more and more like Buffalo was not going to be able to top Kansas City in the postseason, and with the Bills not having the financial wherewithal to improve their roster this spring, things didn’t appear to be getting any better.
Now, Diggs is moving on to a young, upstart Texans team that is absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position. In addition to Diggs, Houston also has Nico Collins and Tank Dell, not to mention tight end Dalton Schultz and incoming running back Joe Mixon.
To put the cherry on top, C.J. Stroud will be playing the role of quarterback.
On paper, the Texans’ offense looks incredible. We’ll see if Stefon Diggs is able to have some better luck against the Chiefs in Houston than he did in Buffalo.
Let’s face it: the AFC runs through Kansas City.
