With the Carolina Panthers needing to surround Bryce Young with some talent, could Las Vegas Raiders superstar wideout Davante Adams be a trade target?
With four weeks of the season done, the Panthers are off to a slow start so far. The Panthers made the big decision to trade up for the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and select Alabama quarterback, Bryce Young.
Young was a fairly unanimous choice as the first quarterback to be taken in the draft, but he hasn’t quite hit the ground running like the No. 2 overall pick, C.J. Stroud. So far this season, Young has totaled 503 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. As a rookie quarterback, Young has certainly struggled, but an ankle injury also didn’t help him.
Recently Bleacher Report proposed a few trades that could help get Young a star wide receiver. In one of the proposals, the Panthers acquire Davante Adams from the Raiders in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 first-round pick.
This is certainly an appealing proposal for the Panthers and the Raiders and makes sense. For the Raiders, they appear to be heading toward blowing the team up with a 1-3 record and potentially even changing up their coaching staff and front office. If they decide to go into a rebuild, moving a player like Adams who is under a big contract makes sense.
For the Panthers, getting a player like Adams would instantly help Young’s development as a quarterback. Through four games, Adams has already been targeting 50 times this season. He has totaled 33 receptions, 397 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns. Adams has proven without Rodgers that he is still one of the best wide receivers in the league. Unfortunately for the Raiders, that hasn’t translated into wins.
With the trade deadline coming up, we will have to see what the Panthers do to help get Young some weapons.
