Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool is not happy with how he has been used since coming over in a midseason trade last year.

When asked by ESPN’s Courtney Cronin if the Bears have been utilizing him properly, Claypool had a very simple answer: “No.”

Chicago initially acquired Claypool back in November 2022, sending a second-round draft pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for the youngster.

In seven games with the Bears last season, Claypool logged just 14 catches for 140 yards. The story has been mostly the same for him through going into Week 4 of this year, as he has totaled a mere four catches for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Claypool isn’t the first Chicago player to take a shot at the coaching staff in 2023.

Following the Bears’ Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, quarterback Justin Fields pointed the finger at Chicago’s coaches, using them as an explanation for his “robotic” play.

Frustrations certainly seem to be building in the Windy City, as the Bears are 0-3 and there has already been speculation that the club could move away from Fields midseason if he continues to struggle.

Claypool, who played his collegiate football at Notre Dame, was originally selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He had an impressive rookie campaign, hauling in 62 receptions for 873 yards and nine touchdowns. However, the 25-year-old proceeded to stagnate the following year, snaring 59 balls for 860 yards and a couple of scores.

After a relatively slow start over his first eight games in Pittsburgh last season and after multiple run-ins with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin over his first two-and-a-half years, Chase Claypool was dealt to the Bears.

Chicago will take on the Denver Broncos in a battle of winless teams on Sunday.
