Chase Young Doesn’t Hold Back On Experience With 49ers

Chase Young’s stay with the San Francisco 49ers may end up brief, but it could be one of the most rewarding times he will ever experience.

The 49ers acquired Young in a trade with the Washington Commanders back at the Oct. 31 NFL deadline, which obviously represented a stark change for Young.

The Commanders went 4-13 and will have the No. 2 pick in the draft this spring. The Niners are about to play in the Super Bowl.

Obviously, it’s a better situation for Young, and when asked whether or not he felt San Francisco was going to make it this far when he was first traded to the club, Young gave a rather blunt answer.

“Yeah,” Young said with a grin, via Nick Shook of NFL media. “Yeah.”

Young is slated to be a free agent this offseason, and with the 49ers having very limited cap room, they may not be able to re-sign him.

But right now, the 24-year-old is remaining focused on the task at hand: helping bring another Super Bowl to San Francisco.

As for how Young has adjusted? He says it has gone pretty well.

“That starts in practice, as well, just getting that feel,” Young said. “It was interesting for me, just with the whole trade and all, but obviously, I’m very fortunate to come to one of the best organizations, if not the best, in the league.”

The Ohio State product logged 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks in nine games with the Niners during the regular season. He has totaled six tackles and one tackle for loss over the club’s first two playoff games.

Young also declined to really speak on the Commanders, which is a wise move considering he has bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Chase Young and Co. will take on the Kansas City Chiefs with the Vince Lombardi Trophy on the line this Sunday.
