Bears Trade For Buccaneers’ Mike Evans In Bold Scenario

One of the top names that could potentially be available ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline is Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans.

The Buccaneers failed to reach a long-term agreement with Evans prior to the season, meaning that the star will hit free agency in the spring.

Of course, Tampa Bay has gotten off to a surprising 2-0 start, and in the terribly weak NFC South, the Bucs could certainly make a push for the division title. However, the Buccaneers are far from Super Bowl contention, so if things start going south for them over the next month or so, they could ultimately decide to move Evans in order to recoup some value.

Should Tampa Bay place Evans on the trade block, the Chicago Bears should immediately inquire about his services.

The Bears are in desperate need of an offensive boost, as third-year quarterback Justin Fields is still struggling. Yes, Fields does have wide out DJ Moore at his disposal, but otherwise, he is rather limited in terms of options in the aerial attack.

Putting Evans alongside of Moore would provide Fields with two terrific targets and would vastly open up Chicago’s offense overall.

Ryan Heckman of Bear Goggles On suggests that the Bears could trade fellow receiver Chase Claypool and a fourth-round draft pick to the Bucs in exchange for Evans.

Claypool has been a fairly big disappointment for the Bears since coming over in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, and his time in the Windy City seems to be running out. Still, Claypool definitely has raw talent, and if the Buccaneers can nab a young receiver like him in an Evans trade, it might behoove them to accept the offer.

Mike Evans has spent his entire career in Tampa Bay. He entered the league as the Bucs’ seventh overall pick in 2014 and set an NFL record by posting 1,000-yard campaigns in each of his first nine seasons.

The 30-year-old has earned four trips to the Pro Bowl.
