Chiefs Floated As Possible Mike Evans Trade Destination

The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of a very impressive stretch. They have won double-digit regular season games in eight straight seasons and nine out of the last 10. An appearance in the AFC Championship Game has become the norm, as they have advanced there five straight postseasons. The Chiefs have gone 3-2 in those games, making the Super Bowl in three out of the last four years and winning it twice.

Their victory over the Philadelphia Eagles a few weeks ago was truly impressive. While people weren’t counting the Chiefs out, some questioned if they would be as successful without wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the mix. Those people were quickly proven wrong.

Patrick Mahomes not only succeeded without Hill, but he also thrived. Travis Kelce remains a dominant force at the tight end position and the depth chart was loaded with playmakers at the wide receiver spot to help offset the loss of Hill.

Mecole Hardman was the only wide receiver holdover from the 2022 season with Jody Fortson being moved to tight end. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson were signed in free agency. Skyy Moore was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Kadarius Toney was acquired in a trade from the New York Giants.

Kansas City could undergo some changes again at the position as Smith-Schuster, Watson and Hardman are heading into free agency. They could attempt to re-sign them, but what if the Chiefs went bigger, looking to truly replace the star power Hill brought to the table?

In that scenario, Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be an option. Evans was suggested as a player that could be traded this offseason by Adam Rank of NFL.com and Kansas City was mentioned as a potential landing spot.

For Evans, going from Tom Brady to Mahomes as your quarterback would certainly be a welcomed venture. Players are lucky enough to play with one great passer; going from the GOAT to someone that down the road could legitimately challenge for that title, you can’t ask for anything better.

Already difficult to contain, the Chiefs’ offense would be downright scary with Evans as part of it. He has surpassed the 1,000-yard plateau in all nine seasons to begin his career, which is the third longest in NFL history behind Jerry Rice and Randy Moss.

Evans would make for an elite pairing along with Kelce and garner a lot of the defense’s attention. Valdes-Scantling can be used to open up and stretch the field, allowing Moore and Toney to use their quickness and athleticism underneath to create plays with yards after the catch.

Game planning against a Chiefs offense with Evans would be virtually impossible. Given how much they got the running game going with Isiah Pacheco as well and there wouldn’t be a way to truly stop them; defenses would only hope to contain them.
