Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Reveals Bold Message After Week 12 Win

The Kansas City Chiefs hit a bit of a rough patch the last few weeks, at least for their high standards. They have been struggling on offense, at least in the second half of games, as they hadn’t scored a second-half point entering Week 12 since their Week 7 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Luckily for Kansas City, that streak came to an end against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs scored 17 points in the second half, coming away with a 31-17 victory after going down by 14 in the first half.

It was a gutsy performance by a Chiefs team that has been relying more on its defense this season than at any point during the Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes era. Regardless of how it is achieved, a win counts all the same.

That is the sentiment that Mahomes shared after the team’s victory when talking to Melanie Collins on Sunday evening. He said, “It’s not always gonna be pretty, it’s about how guys fight.”

After a slow start, Mahomes ended up having a great afternoon against the Raiders. He completed 27-of-34 pass attempts for 298 yards and two touchdowns.

It was an encouraging performance in many regards, as rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice continues to cement his status as the team’s No. 1 player at the position. Tight end Travis Kelce had a big game after being held in check during recent outings.

Things aren’t going to get any easier for the Chiefs in the coming weeks. They are heading on the road to face the Green Bay Packers, who are playing their best football of the season, on Sunday Night Football.

After that, they will be facing a desperate Buffalo Bills team that will be playing for their playoff lives coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11 off their bye. The Chiefs will need to be on top of their game as their opponents will be giving it their all against the defending Super Bowl champs with playoff hopes on the line.
