Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase does not want to hear any comparisons between him and Minnesota Vikings wide out Justin Jefferson.

When asked about him and Jefferson—his former LSU teammate—arguably being the two best receivers in the NFL, Chase made a rather strong statement.

“I’m the best,” said Chase, via JPA Football. “I don’t feel like we’re the two best. I’m the best.”

Chase and the Bengals will be battling Jefferson and the Vikings this weekend, so we will get to see who ends up having the better afternoon on Saturday.

Jefferson is widely regarded as the best wide receiver in football, as the youngster has posted historic numbers over his first several NFL seasons.

However, Chase is no slouch.

Through the first 13 games of this year, Chase has hauled in 89 receptions (which is a career high) for 1,092 yards and seven touchdowns.

The 23-year-old was selected by Cincinnati with the fifth overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He played in every contest during his rookie campaign, catching 81 passes for 1,455 yards and 13 scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. Injuries limited Ja’Marr Chase to just 12 games last year, but he still produced, snaring 87 balls for 1,046 yards while reaching the end zone nine times.

Meanwhile, Jefferson has only participated in six contests in 2023 as a result of a hamstring injury that plagued him earlier in the season. He has logged 38 catches for 598 yards and three touchdowns.

Last year, Justin Jefferson led the league in both receptions (128) and receiving yards (1,809) while punching in eight scores.

The Bengals have won two games in a row in spite of Joe Burrow’s absence and are 7-6 on the season. The Vikings snapped a two-game skid last weekend and sit at 6-7.

Both clubs are fighting for their playoff lives in their respective conferences.
