The Cleveland Browns fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, but that was hardly their biggest loss of the evening.

The most devastating part of the Browns’ Week 2 divisional battle was that star running back Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome injury, knocking him out for the remainder of the season.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns are already considering bringing back Kareem Hunt and have also checked in on Los Angeles Rams halfback Cam Akers.

Hunt had spent the last four seasons in Cleveland before becoming disgruntled with his role and asking for a trade in 2022. The Browns declined his request, and Hunt finished the year with the club. He appeared to be nearing a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints last month, but a deal was never reached.

The 28-year-old began his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, earning a Pro Bowl appearance after rushing for a league-leading 1,327 yards while punching in eight touchdowns on the ground during his rookie campaign. However, off-the-field issues ultimately derailed his tenure with the Chiefs.

Akers was selected by the Rams in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he has been a disappointment in Los Angeles. He was a healthy scratch during the Rams’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers this past Sunday, and in Week 1, he carried the ball 22 times for a meager 29 yards in a win over the Seattle Seahawks. His time in LA appears to be coming to a close.

Of course, it will be incredibly difficult for the Browns to replace Nick Chubb’s production.

The 27-year-old is coming off of four straight trips to the Pro Bowl, most recently racking up 1,525 yards and 12 rushing scores last season.

Cleveland is 1-1 and will host the Tennessee Titans next Sunday.
