The Indianapolis Colts have added a new quarterback to their roster in the form of Joe Flacco.
Flacco’s arrival in Indy comes with the intention of mentoring Anthony Richardson while also potentially taking to the field himself during the upcoming season.
The move came as a surprise to many NFL enthusiasts, including Flacco himself. In a recent interview on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the seasoned quarterback confessed that he had been uncertain about his next destination. He recounted watching other quarterbacks sign deals while he awaited any offers.
Flacco had expressed a desire to reunite with the Cleveland Browns, but they opted not to extend him an offer. This decision was unexpected, given his instrumental role in leading the team to the playoffs and his subsequent recognition as the AP Comeback Player of the Year.
Although the Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints had also shown interest in Flacco, it was the Colts who ultimately secured the services of the former Super Bowl champion.
At 39 years old, Flacco may be approaching the twilight of his career. Joining a team focused on developing a young and promising quarterback signals a potential transition for the former Baltimore Ravens star.
Nevertheless, Joe Flacco remains hopeful for further opportunities on the field. As he embarks on this new chapter, he aims to conclude his career on his own terms, not merely due to a lack of opportunities from NFL teams.
