The Buffalo Bills have a roster strong enough to contend for a Super Bowl this season. But, as they prepare for training camp, there are a few things that need ironing out. Paramount among them is the situation with wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Things got so precarious between Diggs and the organization a few weeks ago that head coach Sean McDermott canceled the last day of the mandatory minicamp. Rumors have swirled about what could have led to the dissension between the two sides, as Diggs reportedly wanted more of a say in the play calling and was unhappy with his role offensively.
Other reports surfaced that Diggs was not happy that he restructured his deal to open up cap space and the team didn’t use it to bring in more help on offense. DeAndre Hopkins was the player that Diggs reportedly wanted to be added.
But, what if the Bills had some bigger plans in place? While Buffalo doesn’t seem to be where Hopkins will end up, what if Cooper Kupp did? The Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver was recently suggested as a potential trade target for the Bills to push them toward being Super Bowl favorites.
“The Rams are an older team and their Super Bowl window is probably closing, if not already closed. If the Rams decide in the season that this isn’t going to be their year, they have two players that would generate a lot of interest and the Buffalo Bills should be interested in both,” FanSided writes.
The Bills entered the offseason seeking out another wide receiver to pair with Diggs that would offer more consistency. Kupp would certainly fit that bill as he has been one of the most prolific pass catchers in the NFL for the last few seasons.
We are only one season removed from Kupp winning the wide receiver triple crown, leading the NFL in receptions, yards and touchdowns. That kind of talented player is something every team in the league would love to have. If the Bills were able to pull off a trade for him, they would easily be the most dangerous wide receiver duo in the NFL.
