A lot has gone right for the Dallas Cowboys this season to be in the position that they are in. Currently 10-3, they are a near lock for a playoff spot and they still have an outside chance of chasing down the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East division as the teams will face off in Week 16.
Dallas has found success on both sides of the ball and their defense has been getting tons of praise, and rightfully so. This is the most dangerous pass rush in the NFL this season as they get after the quarterback with regularity. They are first in the league in virtually every pass-rushing stat, led by Micah Parsons with 12 sacks.
Dorance Armstrong Jr. is having an excellent season as well with 8.0, while six other players have at least 2.0 sacks on the season. This pass rush is nearly impossible to slow down, while their offensive line is just as dominant at slowing down the opponent’s pass rush.
Not only does Dallas rank first in sacks this season, but they have also given up the fewest sacks this season. The Cowboys have allowed only 16 according to the NFL on CBS Twitter page. Second on that list is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 18, followed by the Detroit Lions with 19 and Kansas City Chiefs with 21.
That is certainly an impressive stat for the Cowboys’ offensive line. They will be tested with right tackle Terence Steele sidelined for the remainder of the season because of a torn ACL, but they have more than enough depth to overcome it.
Veteran Jason Peters and second-year player Josh Ball could soak up snaps there. Or, 2022 first-round pick Tyler Smith could flip over to the right side with eight-time Pro Bowler Tyron Smith nearing his return to the lineup.
Tyr. Smith is on track to make his season debut in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing the entire season thus far with a knee injury. His return could not have come at a better time after Steele went down against the Houston Texans last week.
